Interwoven with footage of this landscape is a cinematic portrait of Elsa, a healer from northern Peru performing a ritual rooted on Moche tradition.
Over the past decade, Andrea Franco has been creating a body of work consisting on 16mm films focusing on the Pacific Ocean, extending from her homeland of Peru to California. Often in the films the landscapes become merged and it becomes unclear which location is depicted, introducing a sense of interconnectedness and a parallel relationship between Peru and California. The work is informed by personal journey, ancestry, mysticism, and the natural world.
